A Chelsea in Bloom Highlight by Luxury Florist in London, Ricky Paul Flowers

For Chelsea in Bloom, Ricky Paul Flowers created an award-winning Winnie the Pooh floral installation on King’s Road. Inspired by the timeless stories of A.A. Milne, the design invited people into a charming woodland picnic filled with florals, fantasy, and joy. This magical scene quickly became one of the most photographed and celebrated displays of the show, earning an official award from Chelsea in Bloom.

The installation was more than beautiful. It was a reminder of how storytelling and flowers can come together to create something truly moving.

Crafting the Winnie the Pooh Floral Installation

The centrepiece of the installation was a life-sized Winnie the Pooh, sculpted using hand-separated pampas grass to create the look of his soft, fuzzy fur. We detailed his face and belly with bleached Helichrysum heads to blend character with floral artistry. The result was a familiar and heart warming figure, brought to life through texture and care.

Pooh sat peacefully among the flowers, offering a moment of quiet joy in the midst of a bustling Chelsea street.

A Storybook Picnic in Bloom

Surrounding Pooh were his closest friends, completing the Winnie the Pooh floral installation with a playful sense of togetherness. We sculpted Piglet, Eeyore, and Tigger entirely from reindeer moss, using its soft, plush texture to bring them to life in a heartfelt tribute to the charm and imagination of the original tales.

The scene unfolded as a picnic in the Hundred Acre Wood, with details that invited a second and third look.

Botanical Details That Brought the Scene to Life

Each piece of the Winnie the Pooh floral installation was carefully layered with thought, texture, and story. A beehive made from preserved leaves featured golden “honey” crafted from reindeer moss. Bumblebees created from Craspedia hovered gently in the air. A honey pot overflowed with yellow gypsophila, chrysanthemums, and achillea.

To create a sense of realism and abundance, we placed real plums, rhubarb, apples, and carrots throughout the scene. All of this rested on a bed of grass, ferns, and natural greenery that brought the Hundred Acre Wood into the heart of London.

An Immersive Escape in the Heart of London

What made the installation so impactful was how effortlessly it transported viewers. This floral scene created a sense of stillness in the middle of one of London’s busiest neighborhoods. Lush greenery underfoot, bees frozen mid-flight, and familiar characters captured in delicate textures offered not just beauty, but a brief escape into a world of whimsy. It was a space where artistry met storytelling, and flowers became more than decoration. They became emotion, memory, and joy.

A Floral Installation That Invited Wonder

This Winnie the Pooh floral installation wasn’t just admired, it was felt. Guests stopped to smile, take photos, and linger in a world that felt both magical and familiar. It reminded visitors of the joy in slowing down and finding beauty in unexpected places.

As a luxury florist in London, Ricky Paul Flowers creates theatrical floral experiences that combine imagination, detail, and emotion. This installation was a reflection of that philosophy in every bloom.
